A view of the Idukki reservoir. This is reservoir is built among the hilly region of Idukki district of Kerala. There is a 300MW hydro electric project associated with this reservoir. The reservoir consists of three dams built on the Periyar River between the hills on the Western Ghats Mountain and is beautifully spread over a large forest region. The forest is a native space for Asian elephants. Though there is a Kerala tourism bungalow close to this, the area is a virgin land for tourists. Tekkady Tiger wildlife reserve, a popular tourist spot is close to this.
