Luzon katipunan officer sword a
The ornate brass-inlays on blade are remarkable. The peened tang on the butt end of the hilt points to a Luzon origin of the sword.
The leather scabbard further points to the sword's Luzon provenance (Visayan and Mindanao scabbards are almost always made out of wood).
It will also be noted that the leather scabbard has shrunk significantly over the years.
The sword came from American collectors, but it is now back in the Philippines.
Overall length: 573 mm (22.6 inches); Blade length: 422 mm (16.6 inches); Maximum blade thickness: 9 mm (3/8 inch)
