Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) EIIR - 1971 Medal (part of set) awarded to S-Ldr Douglas Ian Paterson DFC, RNZAF, Vietnam War silver cross medal; 54mm wide; with ribbon obverse- silver cross flory terminating in rose, surmounted by second cross in form of propeller blades (vertical) and wings (horizontal), charged at centre with roundel within laurel wreath; crowned RAF monogram at centre reverse- royal cypher above date 1918 dated verso- 1971 suspension bar decorated with a sprig of laurel ribbon- 30mm wide; diagonal stripes of alternating purple and white
