Opis:
Millicent Fawcett plaque, Gower Street Home of Dame Millicent Fawcett, leader of the NUWSS (National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies) between 1890 and 1919. Through her peaceful campaigning methods she did arguably more than any other woman in Britain to advance the cause of women's suffrage, though the glory for its eventual adoption has tended to go to Mrs Pankhurst. The latter's militant activities gained more publicity for the issue, but caused many MPs, in particular Prime Minister Asquith, to dig their heels in and block reform until the end of the First World War.
