A figure representing Spain, bearing a sack labeled "$20,000…" walks off over the horizon. Reference to the United States taking control of the Philippines from Spain at end of the Spanish American War and the subsequent Philippine-American War. The terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 included a payment of $20 million from the United States to Spain.
