Two Japanese Small Whites – butterflies of the family Pieridae – mating. P. rapae is one of the most widespread and common butterflies. Its natural range extends all across temperate Eurasia, to the Arabian Peninsula, the Maghreb, Iceland and Japan. It has been introduced to North America. The subspecies crucivora inhabits northeastern Asia.
