Ripe fruit from the Saba senegalensis tree, as sold in the market (called madd, also spelled mad ) the yellowish skins are ripe, the green-skinned fruit is unripe. Tough-skinned, the ripe fruit is cut open to remove the sections of yellow, edible fruit pulp that covers smooth, white seeds. Very tart fruit pulp, usually boiled with added sugar before eating. Scale shown in cm.
