Opis:

Diagram showing bursting of shrapnel shell.
Action :

• Time fuze activates, and sends a flash down the central tube.
• Gunpowder burster charge in the base ignites, exerts pressure on the steel disc (diaphragm).
• The pressure blows the fuze and its socket off the top of the shell.
• The steel disk, central tube and balls are blown forward out of the shell body.
• Fuze, shell body, disc and tube drop to the ground.
• Bullets continue in expanding cone towards the target.
