A modern statue of the Archangel Uriel. It depicts the archangel who patrons the arts and rules over fire and the sun. The Archangel Uriel is a rarity among angels, as he is often depicted as having fiery red and gold wings. It is this angel who guards the Garden of Eden with a flaming sword. He is said to be an angel of repentance, and is also known as the flame of god. Like his brothers, in this statue, he is depicted as a warrior, dressed in full plate armour and in a ready battle stance. Instead of his iconic flaming sword, though, this angel wields a golden bow in his hands, while a golden sash trails from around his waist. The angel’s great, feathered wings are flared open at his back, making this angel look ready to take flight. It stands on a base of simulated stone that features a placard with the angel’s name. The Archangel Uriel is depicted as a powerful angelic warrior, one who smites his enemies with divine power, while also possessing depth of character and serving as a source of not only repentance and redemption, but also as a protector of the arts.
