Submarine Rescue Chamber (original caption: “070505-N-4163T-071 SAN DIEGO (May 5, 2007) - A visitor at Deep Submergence Unit (DSU), located on Naval Air Station North Island, takes a peek at the interior of a Submarine Rescue Chamber (SRC) that is used to rescue the crew from a submerged disabled submarine. DSU invited more than 1,000 visitors to tour its facility, May 4-5, during the Submarine Rescue Day that showcased the personnel, equipment, and capabilities used to perform worldwide submarine rescues.”) This is an improved version of the McCann Submarine Rescue Chamber, developed in 1929 by Charles Momsen and Allan Rockwell McCann.
