The U.S. Navy guided missile cruiser USS Port Royal (CG-73) steams alongside the aircraft carriers USS Nimitz (CVN-68) and USS Independence (CV-62) during the final stages of exercise Valiant Blitz '97, off the coast of Yokosuka, Japan, on 25 September 1997. "Valiant Blitz" was designed to provide an opportunity for the carriers to demonstrate power projection through bilateral flight operations.
