The U.S. Navy heavy cruiser USS Wichita (CA-45) rides out a winter storm off Iceland in mid-January 1942. Note the Consolidated PBY Catalina patrol plane on the deck of the seaplane tender from which the photograph was taken. The ship in the foreground may be USS Albemarle (AV-5).
