US Ford Explorer import (15102625938)

Slightly obscure one this, for several reasons. One, obviously you don't see these much in the UK, but also this one's been Q plated, and on the DVLA says it's year of manufacture was 2013- clearly wrong as the successor to this model was released in 2011.

Note it's also unusual in the fact it's had standard EU size plates made for it, which clearly don't fit on the front! I can see these were made in the same town I spotted and I doubt they provide square plates! It was imported into the UK in July 2013- it's a bit odd it's been Q plated- I imagine there's a lack of documentation for this vehicle. It's had a few modifications like the rear fog light, but retains its US main lights, albeit with stickers on the front. It's equipped with the 4.0 litre V6 engine.

I quite like the look of these, and there can't be many around in the UK. I like the US dealer stickers still in place- do most cars over there have them? It tells me this car was once supplied by Battlefield Ford and Jeep in Charlotesville, Virginia. In case anyone's interested, 2 US presidents, Jefferson (no.3) and Monroe (no.5) lived there.
