Opis:

The patient was a 12-year-old male with a clinical diagnosis of Spielmeyer-Vogt disease. He was first seen at age five years with a symptom of severe visual disability with vision light perception only. An examination of the retina revealed a pepper-type fundus, somewhat granular with a normal optic nerve, but no foveal reflex. By age seven years the patient was severely mentally retarded and was hospitalized with convulsive episodes. He died about two months later. A gross examination of the posterior portion of the eye revealed marked optic atrophy
