Paramedics cap of the Italian army in 1917 and a wound compress (side sticker 1916) with the words "Nr. 12 Compresse di Mussola al Iodoformio cm. 20 X 95. Farmacia Centrale Militare." The Red Badge is from the Austria-Hungarian army. According to an Austrian private collection, which owns the Garrison cap they originally belonged to the American writer Ernest Hemingway. He was a driver of the American Field Service, a type of medical transport group in the Battles of the Isonzo of the 1st World War. His war experiences there, he described in his novel A Farewell to Arms. In the interwar period, he was often go fishing on the Isonzo, where he had a cottage. For this environment, the cap is according to tradition. The already-eaten by moths field gray cap was carefully restored.
